SAFE SPORT
Chinooks FC endorses, adheres and monitors Safe Sport practices in our program delivery.
We follow our governing body guidelines for Safe Sport, including CMSA/CUSA/CWSA, ASA and CSA guidelines.
As per Alberta Soccer guidelines:
“Anyone involved in sport should be able to thrive and perform at their best without fear of abuse, neglect or other maltreatment. Creating safe sport environments that provide those conditions is a collective effort — one that requires proper training so people can recognize maltreatment and prevent or address it.”
Chinooks FC is an active participant in the Safe Sport practices to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
Our coaches and trainers are required to take the Respect Group training on “Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders”. The Board and staff of Chinooks FC are expected to participate in “Respect in the Workplace”. Parents are also strongly encouraged to take the “Respect in Sport for Parents”.
To learn more about Safe Sport practices, the Alberta Soccer Association has a section of their site dedicated to Safe Sport and resources available for you to learn more. Chinooks FC supports and operationalizes these practices in our program delivery to ensure the we deliver a safe environment for everyone to play.
Our goal as a club is to create the safest environment possible. Safe athletes are healthy athletes, and healthy athletes can freely perform to their potential.

Chinooks FC has developed a Code of Conduct to Protect Children to guide our coaches, staff, management and volunteers in their interactions with children. The safety, rights and well-being of the youth we serve are at the core of our daily operations. We strive to nurture supportive relationships with children while balancing and encouraging appropriate, healthy boundaries.

While many concerns can be dealt with in an informal manner to the satisfaction of all concerned, it is advisable that detailed records are maintained in respect of all complaints and that all parties are advised of the formal complaints and appeals procedure. All reasonable efforts to resolve matters should be exhausted at local level before accessing the appeals procedure.
