This weekend, Chinooks FC 2013 Red participated in the Airdrie Summit Cup, showcasing incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. In game one the boys played exceptionally well, especially considering it was the first tournament for some of them. The game was a tight contest with chances for both sides, but we stuck to our game plan and took home the win. A standout performance by goalkeeper Sam, with some remarkable saves, secured our win.
Despite being down 2-0 at halftime in the second game, the boys demonstrated tremendous resilience. They rallied back to score 4 unanswered goals in the second half. Wallace scored 2 for us. Sam Carter-Sagan once again delivered a stellar performance, especially in the closing minutes when he faced a barrage of shots. This victory ensured we were the only undefeated team heading into the final. I’m not sure who celebrated louder when we scored the go ahead goal. Me, the players or the parents.
In the final game the boys showed remarkable poise and structure, putting on their best performance of the tournament. They played with heart and determination, pushing right until the end. Their resiliency was evident, and they left everything on the field.
Coach Jono says “I am extremely proud of each and every one of them. Witnessing their growth as soccer players and the bonds they’ve created with their teammates reinforces why I love being part of Chinooks soccer. It’s not just about the players but also about the supportive community, including the parents, that makes this experience so special.”
Special Mention: The team was thrilled to have Martin to join us for the tournament. Watching him play alongside his older brother was a special moment, and hopefully, it’s something they will cherish for years to come.
Overall, the Airdrie Summit Cup was a fantastic experience for Chinooks FC Red 2013. The boys showcased their skills, teamwork, and passion for the game, making us all proud.
