From July 7th to July 9th, we hosted our inaugural Shenooks Camp- a girls-only soccer experience led entirely by female coaches. We welcomed young enthusiastic players for three incredible days of connection, empowerment, and, of course, soccer.

The goal of the camp went far beyond the pitch. While the girls enjoyed playing the game they love, the deeper purpose was to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where they could thrive. At Chinooks FC, we are committed to closing the gap between boys’ and girls’ soccer by creating opportunities for girls to play, grow, and lead in the sport.
The heart of the camp was building confidence and community. Through team-building activities, fun games, and shared experiences, the girls had the opportunity to connect with one another in a welcoming, all-female setting.

One of the major highlights of the camp was a visit from Farkhunda Muhtaj, professional player for Calgary’s Wild FC and Afghan international soccer star. She spent time with the girls answering questions, sharing her inspiring journey, and leaving them feeling empowered to dream big.

Inclusivity is a core value at Chinooks FC. We are deeply committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all players. Shenooks is one of the many initiatives through which we aim to uplift and support our female athletes-and we’re only just getting started!!
