Gunners 2013

…from coach Sam

The Gunners played a great game this weekend unfortunately losing 3-2. After going down in the first half 3-0, the team rallied well getting 2 goals in the second half by Tyson and, Louis-Thomas while putting lots of pressure on the opposition team searching for the tying goal in the final minutes. The Gunners had momentum on their side and were unlucky not to score a tying goal as the game winded down. The coaches asked a lot of Olivier and Mazin this game in defense, and they locked the position down while contributing to the attacking phase! Strong performances by the all the call-ups (Duncan, Colten and Niko) helped propel the team forward. Niko had the highlight of the game where he dribbled 3 opposition players, then the goalie to set up an easy tap in goal for Louis-Thomas. Great job prioritizing shots and getting back on the scoresheet by the Gunners this week!

Hammers 2013

…from coach

The Hammers were entered into the Calgary Cup this weekend and had an overall solid performance. They managed to win the first match which was a very close battle with a strong Foothills squad which was only made more nervy and hectic thanks to the tiny field. The second match ended in hearbreak as Blizzards managed to take a 1-0 lead late in the second half and managed to hold the Hammers at 0. However, the final game was a dominant performance by the Hammers where they showed great possession based football and ended with a big win. With a three way tie for first in their group, Hammers were just shy of making it to the final game due to goal differential. An overall solid performance by the Hammers, well done boys!

Palermo 2008

…from coach Ale

The girls played against MUSC this week.   They were very physical and we struggled against their physicality. The girls did well in closing the middle channels and not allowing MUSC to play between our lines, but we have not been very effective pushing forward.  Overall it was a very close game and I am very happy with the attitude and the effort.

Spartak 2006

…from coach Ale

The girls played a couple of games this week.  They had some great goals and a lot of scoring chances, but we need to up the intensity to really get the results we’re looking for.
