Premiers 2013 come home with Silver!

The Chinooks FC Premiers 2013 boys team brought home the silver medal from the EWZSA Spring Challenge Tournament in Edmonton, and the entire experience was nothing short of spectacular!

The tournament was blessed with great weather, making for perfect playing conditions. A large contingent of enthusiastic parents lined the sidelines, cheering and high-fiving their hearts out with every goal scored.

This incredible support was a highlight for Coach Sam, who noted, “Seeing the parents celebrate as much as the kids did whenever we scored was truly special.”

This event marked the team’s first foray into 9v9 soccer, and they adapted remarkably well to the new format and positional requirements. Despite facing opponents with more experience in the 9v9 setup, the boys showed great resiliency and composure.

Coach Sam praised their performance, saying, “I am so proud of how everyone competed and adapted to the new formation and positions. All the players came together and played for each other, as a unit. The boys’ mentality was great throughout the tournament, and it was really a joy for me to coach them. This group bonded a ton at the tournament, and it was awesome to be a part of it!”

Coach Chris showed his pride in his recap of the weekend. “In the first group game we were down 1-0 and the boys scored a late goal to tie 1-1. Marcus was outstanding in the net to keep us in it! In the second group game we were down 1-0 at halftime and again the boys poured it on in the second half to win 2-1.  This set us up to play a tough final where we lost 2-0 to a skilled spruce grove team.”

The energy and excitement from the sidelines fueled the boys’ performance, creating an amazing atmosphere that was felt by everyone involved. The team’s ability to quickly adapt and work together was a testament to their hard work and dedication.

This tournament was a huge success for the Chinooks FC Premiers 2013 boys, and it provided valuable experience and unforgettable memories.

Congratulations to the team for their outstanding effort and well-deserved silver medal! We look forward to seeing more great achievements from this talented group in the future.
