This week, Chinooks players will be learning about Turning and Shielding.
Turning is simply changing direction when in possession of the ball. This can be when stationary or when moving with the ball. A turn is executed when the player is trying to face the direction they want to pass, shoot or dribble or to evade a defender. A number of turns may also be completed in a row to confuse the defending team.
Wing Play
Wing play is focusing on what wingers need to do to create chances for their teammates or for a more modern day winger, how to finish chances from the wing. Turning and shielding can play a huge part in both of these actions and support this tactical element.
