Foxes 2013

…from coach Iain

The Foxes played a very good Villians team and were down 2-0 early in the game. But the Foxes never gave up and bounced back 6 unanswered to secure their biggest win of the season. They have improved so much so far and are now seeing the results pay off. Congrats Foxes on a great game!

Gunners 2013

…from coach Chris

The Gunners faced a tough opponent in Foothills Atletico this weekend and would up on the losing end of an extremely competitive game 1-0. Henry had a strong day in the midfield as well as on defence while coming closest to scoring off a set piece that the foothills goalie was just able to palm away. With the roster thin due to summer holidays Kai stepped up from the U9s to fill in as well as Jacob from the U10 Foxes. Damian also deputized as goalie with Marcus away and had a strong game. The Gunners played Foothills Atletico in an indoor tournament last year losing 7-2 so despite not winning on the weekend they continue to improve as a group. Well done Gunners!

Red Stars 2010

…from coach Ale

We had only practice on Tuesday, we played a scrimmage against the boys U10s. It was good to see the shape vs a boys team and especially hard to play in tight areas.

In our game this week, we had a lot of call up players due to low player availability.  The girls did not give up and pushed hard. They scored 6 goals and kept their shape, not dropping one meter in the field, despite having only 1 sub and some very young players as call ups. When we were 6-1 we relaxed and conceded 2 goals in the last 2 minutes of the game. We need to keep the focus right until the end of the game. Amazing effort and super energy. Good style of play and amazing in exploiting the wide areas, using the speed we have at top. Solid defensively and hard in challenges.

Palermo 2008

…from coach Ale

At practice this past week we worked on exploiting wide areas and combinations to go to the goal, especially involving the fullbacks. Coaching the fullbacks and wingers to go to the touch line and different ways of crosses. In our game this week, we started a little sleepy, but after the first 5 minutes the girls started dictating the plays and the tempo of the game. The girls scored couple of goals and totally dominated the game. I am very happy with the composure and the style of play. The girls are getting confident – comfortable and learning a new style of playing the game. It was nice to see how they tried to exploit the wide areas and few decent crosses.
